Q: Your entire article on Monday was great with one exception - Jack Easterby’s name was nowhere to be found. The Houston Chronicle's John McClain discusses what's next for the Texans and quarterback Davis Mills after their 40-0 loss at Buffalo Video: Houston Chronicle Joe T.Ī: Some seem to have forgotten that, Joe. Q: As poorly as the Texans are playing - the teams that they lost to are each 3-1. They need to do like the Rockets and finish with the worst record in the league. Watt is having success in Arizona! I wish him all the success in the world, he was my favorite Texan and always gave 110%! - Matt S.Ī: Matt, a 1-4 hole is hard to get out of? What were you expecting this season? A playoff contender? The Texans were picked as the worst team in the league by many of those who cover the NFL. To finish on a positive note, at least J.J. A 1-4 hole will be very difficult to get out of. From Sam Darnold seeing “ghosts,” to Zach Wilson throwing 4 INTs in one game, it doesn’t bode well for Mills and company Sunday. He is 22-6 against rookie QBs, and has allowed under 10 points in his last handful of games coaching against rookies. Bill Belichick loves to feast on rookie quarterbacks. This Sunday’s game against the Patriots will be a real tough test, both for rookie Davis Mills and the Texans coaching staff. Tennessee and Indy will eventually turn it around once they get healthy. If this team doesn’t turn it around soon, there should be no rush to get Tyrod Taylor back in action (to risk further injury). Even with the great Texan teams of the early 2010s, the specter of quick playoff exits manifested itself in the form of embarrassing playoff losses. It amazes me how this team always has something that distracts this team on the field. Q: I enjoyed your article on the ineptness of the Texans offense against the Bills this past Sunday. What did you expect? They’ve lost three consecutive games to teams that are currently 9-3.

Gerald S.Ī: Gerald, the Texans are underdoing a complete rebuild. Q: Blame current state of Texans on Cal McNair, his mother, Bill O’Brien and of course, the one who wanted to be in on decision making, Mr Watson. Bob J.Ī: Bob, a lot of fans feel as you do right now. General, you are a pleasure to listen to on 610 and your analysis is a great read in the Houston Chronicle. I have always rooted for Texas teams when UCLA was not playing, so it was great revenge for the Bears to derail undefeated Gonzaga in the final game. As a UCLA grad and fan, I was happy to see the Bruins in the Final Four but that overtime loss to Gonzaga on a half-court bank shot at the buzzer still haunts me. I know I am late, but congrats to your Baylor Bears winning the NCAA basketball championship. I seriously can't see the Texans maybe winning two more games this season. I was reminded during the game of one of my favorite signs at the Astrodome during the tenure of the late coach Ed Biles: "The Oilers Need a Biles Movement." The Texans have stooped to that level. The Texans looked not only outcoached, but lost and without motivation. There is no shame in losing when you have a game plan and you execute at least some of your plays. It looked to me like the ultimate "tank job." It was a total team effort that indeed started with the head coach, his assistants and the entire traveling roster. That said, Sunday’s game at Buffalo was an all-time for the ages clunker. His duties as general manager stunk and sending DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona was the end for me. At times I felt like coach Bill O'Brien was trying to destroy this team. 153 for the Texans from day one until two years ago when I threw in the towel and said enough is enough. I moved to Houston just in time for the "Luv Ya Blue" Houston Oilers era and I had season tickets from that time on until they left town. The last time was after the memorial service for our mutual beloved friend Rocket Rosen. Q: I have been corresponding with you since the days before email and text messages.
